Brake chopper

A brake chopper, or simply called a chopper, is connected directly to a DC link. Brake choppers are ideal for numerous applications, such as in elevators, crane systems, wind turbines and electric drive systems. They play a crucial role in effectively controlling overvoltages in frequency converters by safely conducting excess energy to a braking resistor and converting it into heat.

Our brake choppers are specially designed for use with external brake resistors and different DC link voltages. They therefore offer a reliable solution for braking and overvoltage protection in demanding applications.
